The Wieliczka Salt Mine is a protected historic monument and a former industrial site. To ensure the safety of all visitors and the preservation of the mine, please adhere to the following rules. For information on physical requirements, see our accessibility page.
Key Visitor Rules
Follow these guidelines for a safe visit
Luggage Policy
Only small carry-on luggage with maximum dimensions of 35cm x 20cm x 20cm is allowed inside the mine. Larger items must be left at the free luggage storage on the surface.
Photography & Filming
Taking photos and videos for personal use is permitted and free of charge. The use of flash may be restricted in certain areas. Commercial photography requires prior consent from the mine.
No Smoking or Open Flames
Due to safety regulations in the mining environment, smoking (including e-cigarettes) and the use of any open flames are strictly prohibited throughout the entire underground area.
No Animals Allowed
Animals are not permitted inside the mine, with the sole exception of guide dogs assisting persons with disabilities.
