The Wieliczka Salt Mine strives to be accessible to as many visitors as possible. However, due to its nature as a historic mine with many stairs, the standard tour presents challenges for those with limited mobility. Special arrangements are available but require advance planning. Information for Visitors with Mobility Needs

Standard Tourist Route

Please be aware that the standard Tourist Route is not wheelchair accessible. The tour involves descending approximately 800 steps in total, with a steep flight of 380 steps at the very beginning. It is not suitable for individuals who cannot manage long distances of walking and multiple stairs.

Wheelchair Users

A portion of the Tourist Route has been adapted for wheelchair users. This special tour avoids the stairs by using mining lifts. It covers the most important sections of the mine, including the Chapel of St. Kinga. This tour must be booked in advance by contacting the mine's booking department directly, as spaces are limited. The lift entrance has a width of 55cm, so please check your wheelchair dimensions.
